the dailies : 9.10.11

Today is a day that will live in abundant detail in a future blog post. But for now…

daily word: “A friend is always loyal, and a brother is born to help in time of need.” Proverbs 17:17

daily sweat: 20 minute run, 2 hours of couch lifting/moving, 40 minute walk on the canal

daily dish:

oh my land…good food was everywhere today.

breakfast:

Oatmeal with peaches, banana, walnuts, and brown sugar.

lunch:

Dogtown! I went for the Schnauzer…great decision.

dinner:

Possibly the most colorful dinner I’ve had all summer, and a delicious one! Vegetable taco and fruit salad with yogurt, courtesy of Wegmans.

dessert:

My pantry. Seriously…there was a copious amount of dessert-eating going on tonight. I’m blaming it on all the couch-moving calories!

Day 6: third world reflections

daily sweat: just a quick and easy 3 mile run. Nothing fancy today!

breakfast:

PBB&J Oatmeal – Peanut Butter, Banana, and Jelly Oatmeal. So satisfying.

snack:

I love these mini granola bars from Cascadian Farms. They’re the perfect size for a snack or a pre-workout energy boost, which is what this one was today.

lunch:

Frozen banana cream! Love it! And a multigrain cocopop with hummus.

dinner 1:

Oh, yes. HECK yes, I had this beast for dinner! The lovely Lauren and I went to Sugar Mountain Bake Shoppe a few minutes before they opened, figuring that we’d be just in time. But much to our surprise we were met with a line out the door…all the way out to the sidewalk! I guess we weren’t the only ones in the mood for gigantic cupcakes today. I opted for Chocolate Peanut Butter when Autumn Trifle SOLD OUT by the time we got to the counter, and Lauren went for Cakes ‘n Bacon. We were both overjoyed with our selections.

dinner 2:

I’m counting the opening game snack bar as a second round of dinner, since a) my first round was a cupcake and b) there was enough food here to actually make a dinner. Sweet potato waffle fries, popcorn with Parmesan and garlic-infused oil, and chips and salsa.

daily mile:

Day 4: lambeau leap

An appropriate flashback for today! And I can’t hold it in…I have to talk about this. It’s currently the 3rd quarter, and I just witnessed Randall Cobb score on the most amazing return I’ve ever seen. As per Twitter:

I love sports writers on Twitter. I love the NFL. I love my team.

Oh my word…I’m so happy right now.

the dailies : 9.7.11

daily sweat: I’m easing back into a workout routine, so today’s workout was pretty basic: a 5 minute warm up on the rowing machine, a 30 minute run, and another 5 minute row to cap things off.

daily dish:

breakfast: frozen banana cream and cinnamon pastry coffee

This is quickly becoming one of my favorite post-workout meals. One frozen banana + 1/2 cup juice (I used Wegmans’ Green Glory juice) + 2 Tbsp protein powder + 10 – 15 second in the food processor = ice cream for breakfast. Topped with a little Trader Joe’s trailmix or fresh berries, it’s heaven!

snack:

Pumpkin spice lattes are back in action at Starbucks!

lunch and dinner:

Tabbuoleh salad from Jines, (plus two chocolate cookies and some unpictured dried mango for dinner)

snack:

A multigrain cocopop from Wegmans topped with chocolate peanut butter and triple berry jam.
