And speaking of rich, gorgeous colors…this wedding is beautiful! But what struck me most was the stationary. And come to find out the bride owns the company and designed all of the paper products! She did such an amazing job!

daily word: This is not in the least bit meaningful, but this conversation with a guy at the return desk at Target tonight made me laugh:

Me: Hi, I’d like to exchange this blanket please.

Employee: Is there anything wrong with it?

Me: Nope, I’m just a woman.

Employee: I’m sorry?

Me: I can’t do anything without changing my mind 18 times.

Employee: I want to laugh…but I don’t know if I’m allowed to.

daily sweat: The return of the 6 mile run. It felt GREAT. I can’t believe I used to run like that a few times a week…and now I do it once or twice a month. No more! I really want to get back into the habit of long runs. Life feels so much better afterward.

daily dish: A slightly healthier take on yesterday’s dessert frozen banana cream – this time with milk, cocoa, protein powder, peanut butter and granola. SO GOOD!

daily mile:

Day 53: it’s my roadtrip and I’ll cry if I want to

This made me so happy.
1/2 a frozen banana + 1 Tbsp cocoa powder. Blend until creamy in a food processor. Top with a small dollop of peanut butter and a mini peanut butter cup.
It’s my favorite flavor of ice cream…but healthy! I’m so excited!

Day 52: keep moving forward

(A year later, same television programming. It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown! A classic bound to make any day better.)

the dailies : 10.20.11

daily word: “I love Rochester.” I said it multiple times, in multiple contexts, for multiple reasons. But without a single flinch! It was true every single time. Who knew?!

daily sweat: 75 minute power vinyasa class to start the day off right! Love it.

daily dish: I was pretty much the happiest person on the planet when I came home to one of these at my doorstep:

That right there is an autumn trifle cupcake from Sugar Mountain Bakeshop. Molasses cupcake, pumpkin filling, gingerbread buttercream. It was so heavenly. I tried to get one a few weeks ago to no avail so I considered it a lost cause…until Lauren surprised me with this gem today. A kinder soul cannot be found. (Thank you, Lauren!)
Disclaimer: I did not eat this for dinner. I ate this and brussels sprouts for dinner. That totally equals the scales.

Day 45: autumn has arrived

(I still remember that walk. It was one of the prettiest sights I saw on the trip.)

daily word: Who knew there was wisdom lurking in the pages of a Berenstain Bears book? From the hallowed pages of Too Much Birthday, “The important thing is that you’re going to be six for a whole year and it’s up to you to make the most of it – to learn, to have fun, to grow in every way.”

daily sweat: 3 miles of speed intervals and a very short (seriously – 1 km) row. And a life lesson in the locker room: someone told me I motivated her to work harder on her run because she was watching me run intervals! Who knew?! This was a complete surprise to me because I kind of feel like Phoebe when I run and am definitely not athletically inspirational. But it was a great reminder that sometimes being committed is beneficial to other people and not just me. And also a great reminder to verbalize gratitude to people and not just think it; a stranger totally made my day by taking 10 seconds to talk to me. What a great workout day.

daily dish:

I wanted something light for dinner tonight because I wasn’t too hungry and it was late so I didn’t want to get into an elaborate cooking/cleaning process…and then I remembered bookmarking today’s Eat, Live, Run post. For good reason…

Caramelized Brussels Sprouts! Which was also perfect for tonight because for some reason I felt the need to buy Brussels sprouts on the stalk this weekend at the farmer’s market…and have no idea what I’m going to do with over a foot of sprouts. Maybe freeze them? Anyways, I took some creative liberties with the recipe because I also had a red onion and some goat cheese starring at me in the fridge, so I threw them into the party in the pan too. SO GOOD.

Thanks for bringing me back to the good ‘ole days of breakfast sandwiches, Tim Hortons! I have to admit…I missed my morning bowl of oatmeal/cereal/something desserty disguised as something breakfasty…but it was good to switch things up a bit!

3 Tbsp protein powder

1 Tbsp oats

1/4 cup milk

Blend in a food processor, top with blueberries, devour. SO GOOD.
